Winter and Smith have worked with many clients over the years, to create bespoke electronics for retail displays and exhibitions. In this increasingly visual world, getting customers through the door is key – so stores have had to amp up their electronics.
We have a strong network of suppliers/customers, that can assist in designing amazing displays and sometimes even interactive exhibits.
As a title sponsor of the Queen’s Club Tennis Championships, this client decided to show their support in a unique way in their flagship store in Regent Street. As a famous supplier of mens clothing, what better way to support the tennis than have the dressed manikins in the store look like they are watching a tennis match?
Winter and smith were commissioned to design the electronics and mechanics for 6 moving manikins heads, that were to be mounted onto bodies in the shop window, repping the new season’s clothing.

Fashion Brand Uniqlo wanted to run a promotion in their Oxford Street store in London – the system was to consist of a large display of clear Locked boxes. The key to the system was that once an hour, a promotion on one particular item would start. The system needed a large light up display with a countdown showing on it – when the countdown reached zero, a siren would sound and one of the clear boxes would illuminate and unlock – so the customers could gain access to the product. A different box would open every hour, with a different product in it.
Our client designed the enclosures and main display, and Winter & Smith were approached to design the electronics. The entire system was installed into the store over the course of an evening, ready for the promotion

Our client had been approached by a major perfume brand to create something unique for a window of Harrods during the Christmas Period. The display was to be a window sized Ferris wheel in gold, with a bottle of perfume placed in each gondola. The Ferris wheel needed to turn gently, and was to be illuminated for all shoppers to gaze in awe!
Harrods’ window displays are always the best in town (if you know, you know), so it needed to be perfect.

When a car stereo retailer wanted their display to stand out, they turned to Winter & Smith.
We developed a custom electronic system that not only powered and showcased all the stereo equipment but also gave the display a minimalist, professional edge. No visible price tags. No clutter. Just clean design!
To evoke a nostalgic feel, we used vacuum fluorescent displays (VFDs) for user information, subtle and retro, yet totally functional.
Here’s how it worked: All systems stayed powered continuously, but with a simple press of a button, the customer could isolate and listen to a specific head unit through the store’s speaker system. At the same time, the central display would quietly reveal product info, such as specs and pricing, giving the store staff full control without disrupting the aesthetic.
